ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — A new class for Chemung County teens interested in acting or playwriting is coming to the Steele Memorial Library.
The Teen Acting Lab of Elmira (TALE) is a free theater training program for students in grades seven through 12. National-touring actor and playwright Tim Collins will help students create their own plays and put together multiple performances throughout 2024.
“TALE will be an artistic safe space for students to experiment, explore, and create,” said Collins. “Not only will participants develop their skills in acting, public speaking, and writing, they’ll have the opportunity to perform in full productions of both classic and original plays.”
All teens who live in Chemung County are invited to attend classes from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at the Steele Memorial Library Teen Space starting on Feb. 6. Tuesday classes will focus on acting and Thursday classes will focus on playwrighting. Students at any level of experience in writing and acting are welcome to attend these free classes. Registration isn’t required, and students can come to any number of classes.
This program is funded by the Triangle Fund and the Anderson Foundation.
