Our 6th grade students learned how to stand up to bullies at an assembly today. Speaker, Tim Collins, engaged them with his storytelling and acting. #scarsdalemspride

“This interactive play features compelling characters and passes along an important message in an entertaining and engaging way,” said Meagan Gillander, the OPL’s Youth Services Coordinator.

Thanks to our PTC for sponsoring Tim Collins, a guest speaker for our 6th graders. Tim is a one man show, STANDING BY, STANDING UP. Prevent bullying. Stand up for others. Be kind, work hard, always learning.

“In ‘STANDING BY, STANDING UP’ I portray five characters: four students and one teacher. The kids are the bullied and the ‘henchmen,’ and they reveal their stories on how bullying affects them.”

Collins incorporated audience members to demonstrate different ways students might prevent or stop bullying situations constructively, such as changing the topic of conversation, standing up for their fellow students or bringing issues to teachers and school administrators.
